Websites that bring you customers

A company website has one job: to bring customers to you. That is why I build it to load in a fraction of a second on a phone, to be technically prepared for visibility in Google, to grow with your offer and to leave attackers no way in. With WordPress when you want to edit the content yourself, or as a static website when maximum speed and minimal upkeep matter. I quote each website individually after a conversation and a short brief.

  • WordPress or a static website, to suit the project
  • Design before the first line of code
  • 2 rounds of corrections to the design, 2 to the website
  • Company website usually ready in 3 to 4 weeks

Scope of work

What every project includes

Six parts of the work come with every website I build, whether it runs on WordPress or is a static website. All six are included in the price, and none of them is charged later as an extra.

A design built around your content

I start by working out who your customers are and what matters most about your company, and I design the layout around that. Bespoke means I do not buy a ready-made theme and fill it with your text, because the content would then have to fit sections nobody needed. You see the design before I write the first line of code.

A separate mobile layout

Most visits now come from phones, and a layout planned for use with one hand works differently from a desktop layout squeezed onto a narrow screen. The menu, the contact form, the price table and the gallery each get their own solution on small screens. I test them on real devices as well as in a browser simulator.

Measured loading times

I use images in modern formats, load fonts locally and add scripts only where they are needed. You see the result in figures from PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals data. If the hosting slows the website down, I tell you straight away and show you the measurement.

Technical SEO from day one

Every page gets a clear heading structure and its own title and description, and the website gets a sitemap and structured data. When I rebuild a website, I redirect the old addresses to the new ones. None of this is SEO yet, but SEO cannot work without it. I also add the website to Google Search Console and show you how to read the reports.

Cookie consent and a privacy policy

The consent banner blocks analytics scripts until the visitor accepts them, and you get a privacy policy template for your lawyer to check and complete. I set up the consent categories in line with the GDPR and the UK GDPR (statistics, marketing and preferences) and make sure that each script starts only after the visitor has actually accepted it.

Domain, hosting and email

I choose hosting to suit the project, help you pick a domain and set up DNS, the SSL certificate and email with SPF and DKIM authentication. You register the domain in your company’s name, and the hosting account is in your name too, whether you buy hosting from me or from any other provider.

Technology

WordPress or a static website?

I build both, so I have no reason to talk you into either. The choice depends on how often you change the content, whether you need a shop and what the website should cost to run.

WordPress

When you want to edit the website yourself

  • You add pages, posts and projects yourself, without needing a developer.
  • More than one person edits the content, and user accounts with permissions are useful.
  • You need a shop: WooCommerce runs only on WordPress.
  • You want to add features through plugins, for example bookings, courses or several languages.

WordPress works best when you want full control over the content. A new page, post or project takes a few minutes in your admin panel, and you can add features as the company grows. I can take care of updates, backups and security for you with WordPress maintenance from €100 net per month.

Static website

When speed and minimal upkeep matter

  • The content changes only a few times a year, or when you update your offer.
  • You want loading times that WordPress rarely reaches on the same hosting.
  • You do not want an admin panel or a database that someone could take over.
  • The website has several languages and is built from repeating sections.

A static website loads in a fraction of a second, and the hosting bill is as low as it can be. I make content changes for you within the hours of maintenance for websites without a CMS, from €100 net per month.

An existing WordPress website can also be moved to a static version, keeping its look, its page addresses and the Google rankings it has earned, in exchange for shorter loading times and no back end that anyone could break into. I quote this rebuild after reviewing the current website. If the website should stay on WordPress and only its speed is the problem, the right service is WordPress speed optimisation rather than a new build.

Process

Four steps to launch

The order is always the same, and the first step has nothing to do with the design. Without knowing what the website is for, any design would be guesswork.

  1. Working out what you need

I ask what the website is for, who should find it, what those people are looking for and what they should do once they arrive. Then I review your current website, your Analytics data if you have any, and your competitors’ websites. The result is a list of pages and features rather than general ideas about the look.

  2. Choosing the technology

Only once the scope is clear do I choose between WordPress, a static website or a combination of both, along with hosting for the expected traffic and a way to run the blog and the language versions. I explain the reasons for my recommendation, including what each option will cost to maintain.

  3. Scope and quote

You get a quote listing the stages, the deadline, what the price includes and what would cost extra. I usually take a 25% deposit at the start and the rest after launch, and I split larger projects into stages. The price of every website includes two rounds of corrections to the design and two to the finished website, a 12-month guarantee on my work, and the first 3 months of OneNet Admin Plus (OneNet Admin Static Plus for a static website) and OneNet SEO Plus.

  4. Build and launch

Once you approve the design, I code the website in a staging environment and send you its address. You comment on the finished website instead of seeing the result only at handover. After your approval, I move the website to its final address, set up redirects from the old URLs and hand over the access details and documentation, including a description of the admin panel if the website has one.

Project start

What I need from you

Deadlines move because of missing materials far more often than because of the code. The more of this list you have ready at the start, the shorter the schedule.

Missing photos or texts do not hold up the project. I can write the texts from a conversation with you and your company materials, and I find photos in stock libraries and free photo collections, with no licence fees and no commission for me. If you would rather use your own photos from a photo shoot, that is your decision and a separate cost on your side.

  • texts for the pages, or your agreement that I write them
  • photos of your projects, products or the people who work in the company, ideally in their original resolution
  • your logo as a vector file (SVG, AI, EPS), plus your brand colours and fonts if you have brand guidelines
  • access to the domain control panel and your current hosting, to move the address and email
  • two or three websites you like, with a short note on why
  • who will edit the content after launch, and how much experience they have with an admin panel

Other services

Some projects do not end with a company website: online sales are added, or a feature that no ready-made plugin offers.

All case studies

You will find all website services on the website development page. Regardless of the guarantee, the website can then be looked after through ongoing maintenance: updates, backups and free hours of my work for ongoing changes. Visibility in Google is separate, ongoing work, which I describe on the SEO page.

FAQ

Questions about a new website

What clients ask most often before they decide on a project.

How much does a small business website cost?

I quote every website individually. The price depends on the number of pages, the features, the languages and whether content has to be moved over from your old website. After a conversation and a short brief, you get a quote that lists every stage with a price for each item, so nothing is left to be settled later. The price includes two rounds of corrections to the design and two to the finished website, a 12-month guarantee on my work and the first 3 months of maintenance and SEO. All prices are net, excluding VAT. The offer is for businesses only.

How long does a new website take?

A website with around a dozen pages usually takes 3 to 4 weeks from the moment you approve the design. For a larger website with a blog, language versions and a calculator, allow 6 to 10 weeks. The schedule most often gets longer while I wait for texts and photos. If the descriptions of your services are missing, the whole timeline moves, so the quote states what I need from you and by when.

Can I edit the website myself?

With WordPress, yes, and that is the main reason to choose it. You add pages, posts and projects in the admin panel, and the layout stays consistent because I build the sections as reusable blocks. At handover you get documentation that describes the admin panel. A static website works differently, because I make the simpler changes for you within the hours of your maintenance plan, usually on the same day. I go through this question with you before choosing the technology.

I already have a website. What happens with a rebuild?

First I check which page addresses rank well in Google, which content brings in visitors and which photos can be used again. Old addresses get 301 redirects to their new equivalents, so the Google rankings do not disappear together with the old website. Sometimes a rebuild is not needed at all. If the page layouts still work and the problem is speed or three abandoned plugins, tidying up the current website costs less.

What exactly does the 12-month guarantee cover?

Fixing what I have built: bugs in the code, forms that do not work, a broken layout and faults that show up after a WordPress update. The guarantee does not cover new features, content changes or the effects of someone else changing the code. That is normal development work, and I charge for it separately. For the first 3 months, the website is kept up to date by OneNet Admin Plus (OneNet Admin Static Plus for a static website), which you get in the project price; after that, you update it yourself or stay with maintenance. Apart from the guarantee, the price of every website includes two rounds of corrections at the acceptance stage.

Will my new website rank on Google?

I hand over the website technically prepared, with a clean structure, fast loading, a sitemap and structured data. SEO itself is ongoing work on content, links and keywords, and I do it in SEO plans for €500, €900 or €1,300 net per month. The first 3 months of this work with OneNet SEO Plus are included in the price, so work on the new website’s visibility starts straight away. Without this work, a new website rarely reaches the first page of search results.

Can the whole project be done remotely?

Yes. I work remotely with companies in the UK and the EU, among them a chain of tattoo and piercing studios in the UK and education organisations in Belgium. You deal with me directly, in English. I put the scope, the deadline and the terms in writing, and once you approve the design, you follow the rest of the work in a staging environment. I am available by email, WhatsApp, phone and video calls, Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 Central European Time (8:00–16:00 UK time).
