WordPress maintenance for business websites

A company website most often breaks when nobody is looking after it. A plugin updates itself and breaks the layout, a form stops sending messages, the hosting provider changes the PHP version without warning, and you hear about it from a customer who could not open your website. Maintenance means that I check all this for you every week.

  • Weekly updates
  • Uptime and SSL monitoring every 5 minutes
  • Response within 24, 12 or 6 hours
  • From €100 net/month

Pricing

Three maintenance plans

I bill all three monthly, with no fixed term. They differ in how often I back up the website, the level of protection, the hours of work included and the response time to your requests.

I work Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 Central European Time (8:00–16:00 UK time). Support 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, costs an extra €150 net per month. With an SEO plan, maintenance is 20% off. All prices are net, excluding VAT. The offer is for businesses only.

How the plans compare

The first six rows cover what usually decides the choice, and one click opens the full comparison. Items without a tick are not part of that plan, but you can order them separately.

Scope of work

What WordPress maintenance includes

You see part of this work in the report at the end of each month. The rest you would only notice if it stopped, because the website would then no longer work properly.

Weekly updates

I update the WordPress core, the theme and plugins after taking a backup, then check the website. If a new plugin version breaks the layout, I roll it back and look for a replacement or fix the problem.

Backups of files and the database

I back up the website once a month with OneNet Admin, weekly with OneNet Admin Plus and daily with OneNet Admin Max. Each backup is kept for 30 days away from the server your website runs on. I test restoring backups in a staging environment (included in OneNet Admin Max), because a backup only proves it works once it has been restored.

Uptime, SSL certificate and speed monitoring

Every 5 minutes I check that the website responds and that the SSL certificate is valid, so the alert reaches me before your customers notice anything. I also track loading times and check whether the domain has appeared on spam blacklists.

Security matched to the plan

Every website I maintain is connected to Patchstack. It warns about known vulnerabilities in plugins and themes and blocks attempts to exploit them with virtual patches until the update is installed. OneNet Admin adds basic protection for the login page and files, OneNet Admin Plus active protection against malware, spam and bots, and OneNet Admin Max a web application firewall and rules against DDoS attacks. Malware removal is free for clients with a maintenance plan.

Hours of work for ongoing changes

OneNet Admin Plus includes two hours of work a month and OneNet Admin Max four. I use them for content changes, a new page, a banner, installing and setting up a plugin, or advice.

Contact form tests

At regular intervals I send a test enquiry through every form on the website and check that the message arrives and does not land in the recipient’s spam folder. A single lost enquiry usually costs more than a month of maintenance.

Report at the end of the month

The report lists updates, backups, downtime and the hours of work used. From OneNet Admin Plus upwards, it also includes a Google ranking report for up to 50 keywords (up to 100 with OneNet Admin Max) and a list of broken links found on the website.

Getting started

How you join a plan

It usually takes a week from your enquiry to the first report. The review of the website takes the longest, and it shows whether maintenance can start without repairs first.

  1. Website review

Before you choose a plan, I check the versions of PHP, WordPress and plugins, the state of the backups and any traces of earlier infections. I also run a malware scan at this stage. Maintenance starts only after the scan confirms that the website is clean.

  2. Setting up maintenance

I set up backups at the frequency of your plan, connect uptime monitoring, configure the security measures and set the keywords for the ranking report. This happens once and is part of the first month.

  3. Ongoing work and reports

I update the website every week, respond to requests within the time set in your plan and send you a report at the end of each month. You can send requests by email with OneNet Admin, by email or Trello with OneNet Admin Plus, and with OneNet Admin Max also by phone.

Start of maintenance

What I need from you

Maintenance starts with access. The sooner I have it, the sooner I can store the first backup away from the server your website runs on.

I do not take infected websites straight into maintenance. Before maintenance starts, I scan the website, and the work begins once the scan shows that it is clean. If the scan finds an infection, I remove it first (€500 net). You do not have to share your personal password: you create the administrator account separately and can deactivate it at any time.

  • a separate WordPress administrator account for me, not your personal account
  • access to the hosting control panel, or an FTP or SSH account with rights to the website files
  • PHP 8.3 or newer (older versions no longer get security updates)
  • information on who else has access to the admin panel and edits the content
  • a list of keywords for the ranking report (OneNet Admin Plus and OneNet Admin Max). If you do not have one, I will draw it up with you

Other services

A website that has not been maintained for a long time usually needs a one-off job before regular maintenance starts. Each service has its own page with the scope and the process.

FAQ

Questions about maintenance plans

Answers to what clients ask before they sign up for the first month.

How is a maintenance plan different from paying for each job?

Without a plan, you pay for each repair once something has broken and you have accepted my quote. On a plan, updates, backups and monitoring run without you having to do anything, and your requests have a guaranteed response time: 24 hours with OneNet Admin, 12 with OneNet Admin Plus and 6 with OneNet Admin Max. For a website that actually sells, a plan costs less than repairing the website after its first serious outage.

What happens when I have used the hours of work in my plan?

You get a quote for the additional work before I do anything. Small jobs, such as replacing a photo, correcting some text or updating opening hours, usually fit within the plan. I quote larger tasks, such as a new feature, an integration with an external system or a rebuild of the theme, separately and start them only after you agree.

Can I change plans or cancel?

Yes. I bill maintenance monthly, with no fixed term and no cancellation fee. A move to a higher or lower plan applies from the following month. If you cancel, I hand over the access details, the latest backup and a list of what I have set up, so you do not have to start again with someone else.

I have several websites. Does that change the price?

Yes. For two or more websites, I reduce the price of each plan by 5%, for five or more by 10% and for ten or more by 15%. The configurator above the price list shows the price per website straight away. You can combine plans for websites and WooCommerce shops. I quote separately for websites with custom code, for example a plugin written for them, an integration with a stock management system or a heavily modified theme, because the standard plans assume common, publicly available components.

What access do you need to get started?

I need my own WordPress administrator account, access to the hosting control panel or an FTP or SSH account, and a note of who else edits the content. With OneNet Admin Plus and OneNet Admin Max, I also need a list of keywords for the ranking report, and if you do not have one, I will draw it up with you. You do not have to share your personal password, because you create the account for me separately and can deactivate it at any time.

Do I have to change my hosting provider?

No. I work wherever the website is hosted, whatever the provider. On the server side, I only need PHP 8.3 or newer and access to the files and server logs. If the server turns out to be the problem, you get the measurements and a recommendation for a specific hosting plan, and the decision is yours. You can buy hosting from me or from any provider you choose, and either way the account is in your name.

What are your working hours?

I carry out work and deal with requests Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 Central European Time (8:00–16:00 UK time). You can add support 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, to any of the three plans for €150 net per month. Single jobs outside these hours are possible by prior arrangement, at a higher hourly rate. The response time in your plan (24, 12 or 6 hours) counts only within these working hours.

My website has been hacked. Can you help?

Yes. Removing an infection is a separate job and costs €500 net. I clean the files and the database, close the security hole and ask Google to remove its warnings, and I give a 30-day guarantee on the result. I do not take infected websites into maintenance, so the order is always the same: first the infection is removed, then ongoing maintenance starts, in which any further malware removal is free.

Do you sign a data processing agreement?

Yes, when the type of data and work requires it or when the contract with your company provides for it. During maintenance I have access to personal data on your website, such as form enquiries or user accounts. The agreement is made under Art. 28 GDPR, or Art. 28 UK GDPR for companies in the UK, and includes the list of sub-processors and the technical and organisational measures.
