WordPress maintenance and support

WordPress rarely breaks without a reason. Usually there were months without updates, plugins without an active licence or hosting that cannot cope with more traffic. I deal with both sides of the problem: I fix the fault now and set the website up so that the problem does not come back every few months. I work remotely with companies in the UK and the EU, among them a chain of tattoo and piercing studios in the UK and education organisations in Belgium.

Two kinds of maintenance plan

Company websites and WooCommerce shops have different needs. A shop loses sales for every hour it is down and needs more frequent backups, so each has its own price list. I bill both monthly.

WordPress maintenance

from €100 net/month · three plans

Weekly updates, backups, uptime and SSL certificate monitoring every 5 minutes, spam blacklist monitoring and free malware removal. The higher plans add hours of work for ongoing changes, a staging environment and a response time of up to 6 hours.

I work Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 Central European Time (8:00–16:00 UK time). Support 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, costs an extra €150 net per month. With an SEO plan, maintenance is 20% off.

WooCommerce maintenance

from €200 net/month · three plans

Backups as often as every 6 hours, a staging environment for safe WooCommerce updates in OneNet Admin Shop Plus and above and a response time of up to 2 hours with OneNet Admin Shop Max. Every plan also includes hours of work on developing the shop.

You can order single repairs, audits and migrations without a plan.

Security

A hacked website costs more than maintenance

WordPress websites are among the most common targets of attacks. Automated scanners search the web for a single known security hole, usually in a plugin that has not been updated for more than a year. I analyse each infection separately, but I always follow the security procedures in the same order, and it is this order that ensures the infection does not come back.

Checking files and the database

I compare the WordPress core and plugin files with the originals and search the database for injected scripts, including in the options table. Where a file is infected, I replace it with a clean copy from the original source.

Closing the security hole

If the security hole stays open, removing the malware on its own achieves nothing. I update the vulnerable component, change passwords and keys, and restrict logins and user permissions.

Checks after the clean-up

Over the following days I check whether the malicious code comes back, and I make sure the domain disappears from the Google Safe Browsing warnings. You get a report listing every change.

The cases I see range from a single plugin with a hidden redirect to an online shop attacked through a security hole in WordPress core. In that shop, a card skimmer was running on the payment page and a hidden administrator account had been added to the database. You can read about that case, without the client’s name, in the case study. If you suspect something similar on your website, start with removing the infection, and only then talk to me about ongoing maintenance.

FAQ

Questions about WordPress support

What clients ask before ordering a first repair or moving to ongoing maintenance: reporting a problem, costs, hosting and cancelling.

How do I report a problem?

Email me at info@onenet.com.pl or call me on +48 510 634 755, and describe what has stopped working and what has changed on the website in the last few days. I reply with an assessment of whether I can see the cause straight away, how long the repair will take and what it will cost. Once you confirm, I start the work, so you know the price before the invoice arrives.

Do I need a maintenance plan to order a repair?

No. You can order a repair, malware removal, a migration or an audit as a one-off job, with a single invoice. A maintenance plan makes sense if you would rather not deal with the website again every few months. Updates, backups and monitoring then run without you having to do anything, and you get a shorter response time when you report a problem.

Do you work with my current hosting provider?

Yes, I work wherever the website is hosted. I need access to the files and PHP 8.3 or newer, because older versions no longer get security updates. If the server is the problem, for example because of memory limits, no SSH access or shared hosting for a shop with thousands of products, I tell you so and show you the measurements. Whether to move is then up to you.

How much does malware removal cost?

Removing an infection costs €500 net for a WordPress website and €900 net for a WooCommerce shop. The price covers the full procedure: checking the files and the database, removing the malicious code, closing the security hole, asking Google to remove its warnings and a 30-day guarantee: if the infection returns within that time, I remove it free of charge.

How much does ongoing maintenance cost?

Company websites: OneNet Admin €100, OneNet Admin Plus €200 and OneNet Admin Max €300 net per month. WooCommerce shops have their own line: OneNet Admin Shop €200, OneNet Admin Shop Plus €350 and OneNet Admin Shop Max €500 net per month, with more frequent backups, a staging environment and shorter response times. I bill all plans monthly, and the full comparisons are on the pages for website maintenance and shop maintenance. All prices are net, excluding VAT. The offer is for businesses only.

What are your working hours?

I deal with requests and carry out work Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 Central European Time (8:00–16:00 UK time). With the WordPress website plans, you can add support 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, for €150 net per month. Single jobs outside these hours are possible by prior arrangement, at an extra charge.

What happens if I cancel maintenance?

You get all access details, the latest backups of the files and the database, and a summary of the work done, with software versions, backup settings and security settings. The website stays on your own hosting account, so there is nothing to move from me. Maintenance runs month to month, with no fixed term and no cancellation fee.

Are you a WordPress agency?

No. OneNet is a one-person business, and I do the maintenance, repairs and development myself. You always deal directly with the person who works on your website, with no account manager in between. Contact is by email, WhatsApp, phone or video call, all in English.
